How can I achieve this from either macOS Catalina or Windows 10 I can't seem to find a guide online. I've downloaded Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD from the Internet Archive. Keep in mind that this is an .iso file, not .dmg.
Enter the commands given below to create the USB flash drive installer. Here, an assumption is made that the ISO file name is snow leopard install.iso and the file resides in your Downloads folder. Also, an assumption is made that the identifier is disk2. If necessary, make the appropriate substitutions.

As another user noted, the Balena Etcher method works great on a Mac. On my 2021 MacBook Pro (with M1 Pro chip), I created a bootable OS X Snow Leopard USB drive using a .DMG of Snow Leopard I downloaded on the internet. And then installed Snow Leopard on a 2009 MacBook Pro without a hiccup.
I have a MackBook Air with a blank HDD in it. I made a bootable USB from a Leopard install disk my mom had with her old MackBook. Turns out the install DVD will only work with the MackBook and not the Air. Is there a place I can download OS X 10.6 for the AIR (A1237) I am comfortable with flashing .ISO and .IMG images to USB drives. I know how to bake a bootable USB drive from a disk, but I doubt Apple sells install disks for laptops without disk drives.
The Snow Leopard was the first release that had the Mac App Store, a dedicated app store for Macintosh devices. The App Store contains all the software for the Mac device that lets the users download applications without having to toil around searching for them over the internet. With the Mac App Stores, users will be able to directly download applications on Mac computers making it easier for users to get their favourite apps from the same place.
Well, we have discussed enough the OS, its features and much more, so now let us dive into the download and install part of the article, here we will explore the simple methods to download and install the OS on a computer.
Downloading the Mac OS X Snow Leopard is a very simple task, you can download the OS from any authentic website. Well, just make sure that you find the best and most authentic website to download and OS as, downloading from an unauthenticated source can download erroneous files. Once you have downloaded the OS, we can move on to the installation part of the OS.
Hi, i followed all the step but when i got to the step when i have to reboot and press the alt/option button and select the startup disk, i selected the snow leopard drive but it then went back to my original one
i tried to do it like it says on the post, using my ipod video like anexternal hard drive, but when i restart my macbook pro, it does not recognizethe partition with snow leopard on it, and my dvd unit is not working.. sothere is not other way to install it for me.
You either have to go out of your way (removing hard disk, risky downloading) or spend some money (external drive, or get yours fixed). Unfortunately there is no solution which will be cheap AND easy.
i have a p4 3.2 ghz, with 1.5gb ram, 512 mb ati hd4350 and a super driver. I tried several time installing Mac OSX tiger and leopard with mac osx extended journaled partition but my computer won't boot after installation. Kindly guide me that what is missing.
Hi thanks for the post, I've been trying install on an inspiron 1525 for a week and your post is the farthest I've gotten. I've ran into issues though. I couldn't use SUSE to copy the .raw to my USB because of an \"exception error\" so I used \"Image Writer\" instead ( -image-writer/+download), I tried the boot and it cut out just before the installer screen I got that os x gray colour then it was black. I'm having trouble trying the kexts fix, through TransMac what I get is: (also see pic attached)
The DMG file is an archive file that contains compressed files and folders for direct installation. This is a great option if you want to get your Mac up and running quickly without having to go through the process of downloading multiple files from different sources.
To start we'll want to grab ourselves a copy of macOS. You can skip this and head to formatting the USB if you're just making a bootable OpenCore stick and not an installer. For everyone else, you can either download macOS from the App Store or with Munki's script.
From a macOS machine that meets the requirements of the OS version you want to install, go directly to the App Store and download the desired OS release and continue to Setting up the installer.
From here, jump to Setting up the installer to finish your work. If you want to check the integrity of your download, you can check this repository of checksums (opens new window), although do note that these are crowdsourced checksums and may not be a reliable way to check for authenticity.
Note: this procedure requires that you create an .img file from the .iso file you download. It will also change the filesystem that is on the USB stick to make it bootable, so backup all data before continuing.
Aman, thx for the tutorial and downloads. Is there a way to use the USB stick like an Efix, that is, use the USB to boot up and then start a HD with Leopard or Snow Leopard installed on the HD That would be optimum for me.
Above in the thread, I've indicated one set of RXTXcomm.jar and librxtxSerial.jnilib finally compatible with java on Snow Leopard. Only problem now, it prevents IDE version 22 to download any PDE sketch... IDE aborts & propose to send bug to Apple.
Worthwhile noting I previously download IDE 17, same problem as with IDE 2 or the beta release you suggested so I really don't understand how arduino can run correctly RXTX & JNLIB files which don't work on JAR files compiled latest official ANT.
Internet Recovery Mode downloads the latest compatible version of macOS or OS X over the Internet and installs it to your hard drive. The entire process may take several hours depending on the quality of your Internet connection.
For an up-to-date browser for older Macs, try Chromium Legacy. You may need to use this direct link to download Chromium Updater; no other browser for OS X 10.7-10.8 is able to display GitHub correctly. When opened, Chromium Updater will appear as an icon on the right side of the menu bar. Click it, then select a stable version of Chromium Legacy to download. Once the new copy of Chromium Legacy is downloaded, drag it to the Applications folder. You can keep Chromium Updater and use it to update the installed copy of Chromium Legacy. To enable Google sync in Chromium Legacy, quit the browser, then enter the following command in Terminal (it is one long line):open -a /Applications/Chromium.app --args \"--oauth2-client-id=77185425430.apps.googleusercontent.com --oauth2-client-secret=OTJgUOQcT7lO7GsGZq2G4IlT\"Chromium Legacy will open; log into your Google account. You will not need to run the command again unless you log out. 153554b96e
