eddie has two helmet heads in this sleeve, one can be found on the main sleeve and the other on the back. the work was done by riggs, who with adrian brandt, created the 'maiden united'imagery, with each of the band members painted and dressed in the various uniforms they wore on their way to a win, or loses, in various 'powerslave' promotional and promotional tours.
the square stitched 'eddie' logo was used as a sticker on some merchandising items such as tee-shirts and hoodies, and they were included on the initial pressings of 'the number of the beast' album. in fact, it was used as a backup logo in the sleeve, as you can see in the image at the top of this page.
the album was the first to feature a lyric sheet, this is the sheet that the band were using for rehearsals. the lyrics are printed on the back of the sheet, however, they were printed backwards, with the words 'iron maiden' appearing at the bottom, and 'the trooper' at the top.
the band's first uk number one album, this was their first album to feature a single. 'run to the hills' was the only single from 'the number of the beast' that was issued in america, where it reached number 26 on the billboard singles chart.
so, you can see that we went through a lot of things. especially with the packaging. you know, we never wanted a dull package. we always wanted something that was interesting. and we never wanted to have the same package and the same graphics for every single album and single. i always knew that we needed to do something with every single album, we just didn't know what it was going to be. we didn't know what to do with 'tyrant'. so we thought, 'well, we're going to do a live album', so we went through that, and then we went, 'well, we're going to do a live set.' so we went, 'alright, we're going to do a live show.' so we did all the visuals for that. so we were always looking for something different. and you know, we were lucky. we had a lot of time on our hands, because we were actually putting out a lot of records and a lot of singles. so we had the luxury of time, to come up with different ideas for every single album and single. 3d9ccd7d82
