It was Billy and Amanda's first day at secondary school and he was showing off his new friend in the school hall. He wanted the other children to look and stare. Billy asked Amanda about her hobbies. Billy really loved flying and hoped that Amanda did too. But Amanda said she preferred reading books and dancing. As they waited for the bell to ring they looked up at the sky and saw an army helicopter. What a height it was: they could hardly believe it. As it flew out of sight, Billy and Amanda looked at each other. It was time to join the crew at the classroom door: lessons were about to start.

Sam and Chloe were twins and always sat next to each other in class. During spelling tests, they sometimes copied each other if the teacher wasn't looking. On Friday, they had a test and Chloe did not know the first spelling. Sam wrote the word century in his book and then lifted the page slightly so Chloe could see. Sam was good at spelling and Chloe was good at Maths so it worked very well. In Maths, sometimes Chloe distracted him with nice pictures and sometimes she tried to help him learn. On Monday she drew a big scarf and a tiny circle in her exercise book. Sam liked both types of pictures and it made him look forward to Maths lessons.
