In an April 2014 interview, Vince Desi stated that he wanted to make Postal III as good as possible and explained that it will be the biggest and most ambitious Postal game to date. He did note however that the team behind Postal III had changed in terms of who was leading the team. He also noted that Postal III would run at 60 frames per second and it would feature improved graphics, and hinted at a multiplayer mode. Vince Desi confirmed that the game will feature high definition textures, and that the game will now run at 60 frames per second, implying the inclusion of a new console from Sony or Microsoft, and will feature more detailed textures as well as improved graphics.[20]

While the Postal games have been known to be crude in their humour and are often targeted towards a generally male audience, Postal III was even more so. The game's protagonist, the Dude, is a potty-mouthed, thinly-veiled he-man, often using misogynistic, homophobic and racist language, and the protagonist also wears a gigantic hat and a large codpiece.

While the Postal series has had a number of classic titles that have been a big hit, such as Chaos Wars and Eternal Darkness, the series has also faced criticism, for having a tendency to fall into a repetitive formula . Postal III, it seems, was no exception to that rule. Though the game was well-received by critics, it wasn't received well by the Postal community, who felt that it didn't really have anything new to offer and was more or less a rehash of the original title.

Postal III had a fairly large budget, reportedly up to $9 million, and comprised of over a thousand animations, thousands of sounds, hundreds of pieces of music, and seven hours of voice acting. The story itself also had a fair amount of exposition, and included a whole sequence of animations that are meant to evoke emotion from the player and address key plot points.
